Like stated before rank only means how long a person has spent in tombs not his skill. I do not think that rank should be "removed" from the game or that any punishment should be dealt to players that have rank and form rank only groups. Everyone who started HoH had to wait to find good groups until they got their r3. There is obviously not a huge problem here if you step into any district and see "rank _ lfg".

If you want to be able to get a good group for HoH try finding a guild that is based on HoH. You have to work for you rank. It doesn't just come to you.

I sympathise with you. It is very hard finding groups if you are new to HoH and that's because groups will want experienced players because they want to win. Unfortunately, removing rank won't change this fact.

I would recommend against looking for PuGs in HA as you will most likely only be invited into random teams and by persons in a similar situation to yours. My advice would be to find a freindly guild that has experienced players that aren't shy to let newer PvPers team up with them. Also, try and play with the same players in the guild each time and start off with a role that you are comfortable with within a single team build. Get to know this role and you will soon be able to play it effectively and with confidence regardless of your rank at that stage. If you can show that you know how to play a role effective then this beats flashing a deer/wolf/tiger/phoenix/yak in my opinion.

If there is a decent guild to take new players in and train them, it's definitely the easiest way to get into HA. In case a PvP guild is not an option for whatever reason, I just wanted to add that it's definitely possible to get to R3 by playing in PUGs. Thats life, higher ranked people hold halls more because they are simply better and more experienced, all rank does is show this to other people by an emote, no need to change the system.

I think a good suggestion is a positive reward to using different builds. Perhaps if GW monitered what builds you used, and then gave you bonus points for changing frequently. Perhaps a little in practical. Another thing is perhaps having a HoH etc utterly honed towards balanced games. The rule would be no more than 2 of one primary proffesion in a game. This takes out ranger spike, necro spike etc, and IWAY, and promotes more 'balanced teams'

To me, my rank 1 is a great as an fame farmers rank 3. I never ever do unbalanced builds, and i think i have a great deal more knowledge, and possible skill than a great proportion of R3. As a result i count faction above fame, as it realy shows experience better. (i am new to HoH, but somewhat of a veteran in GvG)

a) Let people use whatever build they feel like. If the build is unbalanced, A-net can and will take care of it. There is no need to regulate what classes people should bring into the game. And partcularly there is no need to replace IWAY boredom with just another build that 90% of all people will use, even if it's a "balanced" one.

b) Faction does show a general experience in PvP, nothing more, nothing less. Rank does show general experience in PvP plus that you know the maps in HA. So, Rank > Faction, IMO. I agree that a good GvG player will most likely be a good HA player as well (probably vice versa, too, but I don't really know since I never do GvG). Unfortunately, there is no way you can show your GvG prowess to other people via an emote. On the other way, if you are experienced in GvG, you shouldn't have any trouble to rank up quickly, anyway.

Many people who don't Iway have many friends who are great players and can play the many builds and build back up. Or iway friends only do Iway cause the guild isn't do anything. Rank will build up again one way or another.

IF, your not able to join groups, why fret if you want your rank and fame so bad make your own group. Whats stopping you from grabbing 7 more people do a build and win HOH. Sadly if you don't try it yourself and only rant about ranked groups your going no where on gaining fame.

As I've said previously, people will always want their party members to have some degree of experience so that they stand a better chance of winning halls. Rank is an ok indicator of experience as it shows how much time someone has spent in HA/HoH, however, it does not show how skilled a player is - that can only be demonstrated by the player in game.

If you remove rank then folk will want some other means by which they can judge people's experience so this won't solve your problem. Find a PvP guild that is willing to show you the ropes.

As for these folk asking for cash to farm fame for rankless players, I have never seen this nor even heard of it. If it does go on then you would have to be a fool to pay to join one of these parties so you would only have yourself to blame. Stay away from these shysters and follow the advice of the nice friendly people on these forums.

Personally, I don't care about what they do to rank, I just wish people themselves would stop inviting only r3+ people, because players who entered Guild Wars a few months after IWAY was made, have no hope of getting into a group alone. That would be me.

FYI - Gaile mentioned that changes to the skills this week should make Iway less common (but not removal). Not saying nerfing iway skills but hinting at making usless skills usefull again.

What I'm curious about did iWay cause R3 only or was it common before hand.

In a nut shell, was Iway the catalyst for "up" R3+ only invites on a huge scale due to how easier (compared to the past) Iway was to get rank or was it always this way.

ANET this is no fair because its just no fair!!thats how you sound... i mean really. it is SOOO easy to make a ranked team even if you are not ranked! i have put together rank 6 teams and i wasnt rank 6! you just dont show them that your not rank 6!

Thats the most true thing ive ever heard! we all started at 0 fame. you (person that started thread) decided to pve. They (person qouted) decided to skip pve and learn pvp.. in a sense its ur fault for starting late in pvp and not having that fame to get into the groups.

I never ask the tam leader to show rank.. i don know about your teams but... if i think hes rank 3 or 6 then he is.

I am actually proud that I got my rank and kept my honor while doing so... I got into many ranked groups while I was unranked, but I told them in every single instance that I was unranked.

Was getting that emote hard? Yes, it was. Is the fact that HA is hard for new players an excuse for lying to other people? No, it's not. I don't respect scammers, neither in HA, nor elsewhere. I certainly don't want to play either with you or your friends if THAT's the way you ranked up.

My rule is that either the team is offically unranked and nobody shows an emote at all or the team is officially ranked and all show their emote, no exceptions.

Why would I trust the team leader to have an emote as long as I haven't seen it? You know, you're certainly not the only liar in HA...
